(Correspondent: Ma Yuankai) On June 11, a delegation from China University of Petroleum-Beijing at Karamay visited School of Economics & Management of Xidian University and discussed with each other about cooperation in talent cultivation in MBA education center of north campus. Hu Qingxi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection, Su Zhonglin, Vice President of School of Arts and Sciences, and Zhang Jianjun, teacher of Finance Department of School of Arts and Sciences and also a teacher from School of Economics & Management of Xidian University in Xinjiang, from China University of Petroleum-Beijing at Karamay, visited School of Economics & Management of Xidian University to have discussion with Xie Junzhan, Vice President of Xidian University and Dean of School of Economics & Management, Su Tao, Executive Vice-President and Director of the Academic Affairs Office in Undergraduate School, and Dean of School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Chai Jian, Executive Dean of School of Economics & Management, Wang Yifeng, Associate Dean of School of Economics & Management, and Xie Yongping, the person in charge of special affairs of education and teaching reform and Director of Department of Business Administration.

Xie Junzhan, on behalf of the University, extended welcome to the delegation from China University of Petroleum-Beijing at Karamay. As introduced by Xie Junzhan, Xidian University is the first engineering and technical university founded by the Party and army. Over the past 90 years since its establishment, the University has taken “Serve the People Wholeheartedly” as its mission, always borne in mind the cordial greetings and entrust from General Secretary Xi Jinping to XDU teachers, worked hard to make major achievements and build a national team of strategic scientific and technological forces with a strong sense of responsibility, mission and urgency. Xidian University took the lead to propose “space solar power station system project” and “space exploration plan of livable planets near the solar system” which was approved by General Secretary Xi Jinping. A batch of scientific and technological achievements made by Xidian University have been applied to such national major projects as BeiDou, Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope, Chang’e 5 and Tianwen 1. Many outstanding schoolfellows have made important contributions to various industries and fields, demonstrating the strength of Xidian University. He also said that, the University will continue to serve the strategic needs of China, implement the spirit of Ministry of Education to support the construction of China University of Petroleum-Beijing at Karamay, adhere to the concept of serving the country, and support the strategic cooperation between the School and China University of Petroleum-Beijing at Karamay.
Hu Qingxi introduced basic situation of China University of Petroleum-Beijing at Karamay in terms of the background of its establishment, talent team construction, current status of school running, construction of scientific research, campus construction and management. He said, in July 2020, in the reply to the graduates of China University of Petroleum-Beijing at Karamay, General Secretary Xi Jinping affirmed their choice of working at the grass-roots level in the border area, and also encouraged the university to serve strategic layout of the country and improve its own strength. He also pointed out: XDU has provided strong support for the development of China University of Petroleum-Beijing at Karamay, so the campus should take full advantage of the opportunity of counterpart aid construction to continuously explore the reform and development of education and teaching along with other universities and find out effective methods and models to improve the quality of education. He hope both sides can extend cooperation and exchange in talent cultivation by this chance and make great progress in reform and innovation of higher education in the new age.
Su Tao introduced the practice of undergraduate education and teaching reform, Chai Jian explained basic situation of the School of Economics & Management, and Wang Yifeng shared the experience in cultivating talents of main categories. Both sides had discussion over undergraduate exchange program, policies for recommendation and exemption of examination, “2+2” training program and partition of specialties, etc. Substantial progress was made in bilateral cooperation.
