|APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS|

1) Master’s degree candidates shall have bachelor's degree or equivalent diploma certificate.

2) Doctoral degree candidates shall have master's degree or equivalent diploma certificate;

3) Candidates who apply to be taught in English shall have attained generally-accepted international English proficiency level of IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 75 or the equivalent level of English required by his/her own country; and students who apply to be taught in Chinese shall have attained HSK level 4 at least. Those who are not able to meet the requirements can apply for Chinese language training at Xidian Universityand pass HSK test.

  1. Subject introduction

The first-level discipline of business administration includesthree specialties that confermaster’s degrees:enterprise management(since1997), technical economy and management(since2000), and accounting(since2006). The main research fields of this discipline include enterprise organization and strategic management under complex environment, marketing, human resource management, technical economytheory and methods, technologyinnovation management and entrepreneurship management, corporate governance, financial investment and enterprise value, etc.An academic team with reasonable age structure, complete knowledge structure and high academic levelhas formed, with fruitful achievements in scientific research. In recent years,the disciplinehaswitnessed a number of national natural science funds, national social science funds, provincial and ministerial key projects and enterprise-commissioned projects, andachieved a large number of high-level scientific research results, forming a distinctive research direction.

  1. Training objectives

1. The graduate student in this program is cultivated to be a person who ispatriotic, respect the laws and regulations, advocate science, practice academic ethics, show scientific rigor and a realistic and pragmatic attitude towards learning and work style.

2.Master the solid basic theory, systematic professional knowledge and practical skills of the discipline; Strong ability to solve practical problemsand carry outindependent scientific research or undertakehigh-level comprehensive management of industrial and commercial enterprises and administrative departments.

3. Have a good understanding of Chinese culture, politics and laws, master two languages of Chinese and English, with the former one enough for reading professional Chinese materials and the latter one reaching a rather high level in literature reading, professional writing and analysis, and other academic activities.

4. Physically and mentally healthy, can undertake the professional work of the discipline with a good body and personal quality.

  2. Research on organizational change and strategic management in a complex environment

    The research on the theory and method of organizational change and strategic management is the mainstreamfield of enterprise management and the hot spot of the subject development. This research direction closely follows the current international mainstream research trend, mainly involving the organization operation and coordination in the informatizationand network environment, the decision-making behavior of the organization’s high-level decision-making team, the formation and action mechanism of organizational support, etc.This research direction triesto reveal the internal laws of the operation of modern emerging complex organizationsfrom the three different levelsofindividual, organization and network .

  3. Technological innovation management and enterprise growth

    Technological innovation management takes the technological innovation activities of enterprises as the research object, discusses and analyzes the management issues of technological development, product innovation management, process innovation management, technology application and technology diffusion of enterprises. Major research interests include technology and economic evaluation and project management, enterprise technology management, organization and strategy of technology innovation, management technology application and technology diffusion management, technology entrepreneurship management, technology commercialization, sustainable development management, knowledge management and intellectual property management. Furthermore, from the perspective of technological innovation, the internal quality improvement, external value network optimization, enterprise growth stage, path selection, competitive advantage acquisition, and the realization of enterprise performance growth are also studied.

  4. Human resource management

    Based onresearchofa series of activitiessuch ashuman resource planning and strategy, job analysis and design, competency modeling and candidates selection, career development and training, performance management, remuneration management, labor relations management, international strategy andallocation, work performanceimprovement, ect.,human resource management helps to develop effective strategies for attracting, retaining and developing the core employees and build the organization’s competitive advantage, so as to arouse the enthusiasm of employees, and in turn create value for the enterprise.The researchmainlyfocuses onhuman resource planning, job analysis, personnel recruitment and selection, incentive mechanism, performance management, remuneration management, training and development, career management, employee relationship management, cross-cultural human resource management, etc.

  5. Training method

Full-time trainingis adopted.Aresearch-led supervisor or supervisor group responsibility systemis implemented.Thetraining processinvolves atwo-stagedesignof “course study + dissertation”. The supervisor or supervisor group is responsible for the guidance of postgraduate training program development, thesis topic selection, mid-termexamination, thesis writing and degree application. The supervisor or supervisor group is responsible for the overall quality of the graduate program.

  1. Schooling and credits

Schooling:The length of schooling for full-time master’s degree is three years, an extension of study period is available under application if necessary. The maximum length of study may not exceed four years (including suspension of study). Full-time postgraduate students generally take one year to study the courses, and the rest of the time is used for dissertation work. Students who apply for advance or postponed graduation shall meet the relevant requirements of the School of Economic and Management, and must get the approval of supervisor, and the head of the school will then review the application and final approval can only be made by the graduate school. The specific measures shall be implemented in accordance with theImplementation Rules for the Master's Degree Awarding Work of Xidian University(Revised in 2019)andDetailed Regulations of Cultivation and Degree Awarding for Foreign Master Degree and Doctoral Candidates in Xidian University (Revised in 2018).

Credits: The course study of master’s degree program employs a credit system. Altogether no less than 33credits is required. The credit courses consists of degree courses, whichinclude public courses, subject basic courses,subjectcourses, andspecial study courses. Thecourses are allrequired courses.

1.Subject introduction

Management Science and Engineering is a discipline that applies knowledge inengineeringdisciplines,mathematical sciencesand social sciencestodesign, evaluate, make decisions, improve, implement, and control various management issuestoachieve management objectives.Its development trend is to face more complex systems science and management decision-making problems in economic and commercial society, and to studyrelatedbasic theories and rules, solving methods and management techniques.

The first-level doctoral program of “Management Science and Engineering” of Xidian University was established in 2010. The master;s degree program was established in 1990. The subject name was “System Engineering” and in 1997 it was renamed “Management Science and Engineering”. After long-term construction and unremitting efforts, the discipline has alreadydeveloped obvious information technology advantages, national defense background and westernregioncharacteristics. At present, the main research fields include information management and information systems, modern industrial engineering and service management, knowledge management theory and methods, operations research and decision-making, financial engineering, etc., emphasizing the close integration of management science, information technology and engineering applications, and has a good development prospect.

The discipline has successively undertaken various scientific research projects granted and supported bythe National Natural Science Foundation, the National Social Science Fund, the General Fundamental Equipment Technology Fund, and Shaanxi Province andXi’anmunicipalgovernment.Anumber of important academic papershave beenpublishedin important journals at home and abroad, andthescientific and technological achievements awardsofprovincial and municipallevels are many. Relying on this subject and related disciplines, the key research base of philosophy and social sciences in Shaanxi (University)-Shaanxi Information Resources Research Center,Shaanxi Province Economics andManagement Talents Training Model Innovation Experimental Zone, Shaanxi Economic Management Demonstration Experimental Center, etc.wereestablished, andclose relationships with a number of large companies and research instituteswere built.

With strongschool faculty members providing a solid backing, thediscipline has a well-structured team ofsupervisors. Among them, there are members of the Teaching Steering Committee of the Management Disciplineand theNewCenturyOutstandingTalents of the Ministry of Educationand other talents of various categories. Theiracademic foundation is solid and has a good influence in the domestic counterparts.

2.Training objectives

This discipline develops high-level, complex and innovative talents who can adapt to the needs of national construction and can independently engage in scientific research and teaching in management science and application fields, and make creative achievements. The basic requirements include:

3.Training direction

1). Information Management and Information System

This direction mainly studies the theory, technology and application of information resource content management and information system security management, including the description, organization and retrieval methods and techniques of digital information resources, methods and technical means of data mining and knowledge discovery,information system security management strategy and guarantee mechanismundernetwork environment, and regional and industry information resource planning, development and utilization.

2). ModernIndustrialEngineering andServiceManagement

In response toenterprise demand, industrial development and government decision-making, using mathematical modeling, system analysis, decision theory and other management science theory tools,carry outsystematic theoretical and applied researchin industrial engineering and service management,andexplore theintelligent managementofmanufacturing resourcesofdigitalproductionline in manufacturing enterprises,and themulti-objective decision-making and pricing theory in the revenue supply chain.

3). Knowledge Management Theory and Method

This direction uses multidisciplinary means to study various issues in the field of knowledge management from different perspectives of behavior, society and technology, including the theory and methods of knowledge sharing, knowledge mining and knowledge discovery, knowledge creation and knowledge services, and optimalallocationofknowledge resources, ect..

4). Operations andDecision-making

This direction mainly focuses on quantitative analysis methods and techniques for management decision-making problems, including planning and solving of operational model, theory and method of risk and uncertainty decision-making, multi-attribute decision-making and multi-objective decision theory and method, group decision theory and method, etc. .

5). TechnologicalInnovation andBusinessModel

This direction focuses on the management of technology implementation processes, the management of the entire innovation process chain, and the innovation of corporate business models. It mainly includes: the entire innovation process from creative generation, research and development to the commercialization of technology/invention; innovation in organizational management and social development related to these activities; Business model innovation brought about by changesinenterprise income model, business model,industrymodeland technology model based on technological innovation.

6). Financial Engineering and Investment and Financing Management

Investment and financing is an important theoretical issue in the field of financial engineering, and it is also a highly practical reality. This training direction explores the relationship between income and risk in investment and financing that both stakeholders are concerned about from both investors and financiers. It studies emerging financial models that use the Internet and mobile communication technologies to realize the functions of finance, payment and information mediation. Train students to master the design, development and implementation of innovative financial instruments and financialmethods, as well as the ability to creatively solve financial problems.

4.Training method

Full-time training. Implement a research-ledsupervisororsupervisorgroup responsibility system. Adopt the two-stage training process of “course study + dissertation”. Thesupervisororsupervisorgroup is responsible for the guidance of postgraduate training program development, thesis opening, mid-term examination, thesis writing and degree application. Thesupervisororsupervisorgroup is responsible for the overall quality of the graduate program.

5.Schooling and credits

1).Schooling:Academic system/: Thedurationforfull-time Ph.D.candidateis three to four years. If necessary, an extension of study periodcanbeappliedfor, withthe maximum length of study not exceedingsix years (including suspension of study). The course studyis usually from six months to one year,and the rest of the durationtimewill bespent on dissertations.If the doctoral student appliesfor graduation in advance or postponementofgraduation shall be subject to the approval of the instructor, the leadership of the college, the supervisor’s consent, the school head’sreviewand the approvalby the graduate schoolare required, and the specific measures shall be implemented in accordance with theImplementation Rules for the Grant of Doctoral Degrees of Xidian University.

2). Credits:For course study, the doctoral program implementsacredit system.The candidatemust take at least 19 credits for the required credits. The credit coursesconsist of2 categories ofdegree courses andoptional courses. The degree courses include public courses,subjectbasic courses andsubjectcourses, 19creditsarerequired.

Academic activities:Participatingacademic reports orgivingacademic reportswithno less than 10 times.

Comprehensive examination: Afterfinishingthecourse study andbefore startingthe dissertationwork,comprehensive examination,an important part of the doctoral training process, will be scheduled.Itshould be completed at the end of the third semester and generally will not be postponed. Teaching practice: The doctoral student’s teaching practice workload is 32classhours, which can bearranged in the form ofgivinglectures to undergraduates, organizingspecial discussions, counseling experiments and tutoring master’s courses.
